MasticloxIntramammary Infusion combines Ampicillin and Cloxacillin and is specially formulated for the broad spectrum treatment of clinical mastitis in lactating cows. Due to its bactericidal mode of action sensitive organisms are effectively treated.
Masticlox is non-irritant to udder tissue and has a milk withhold period of only 60 hours Masticlox IMM.
Composition:
Masticlox is an off-white stable Intra-mammary suspension prepared under sterile conditions. Each single dose, 5g Syringe contains
- Ampicillin (as Ampicillin Sodium)75mg
- Cloxacilin (as Cloxacillin Sodium)200mg
Indications
Masticlox is specially formulated for treatment of clinical mastitis in the lactating cows. Masticlox is effective against Gram-positive and Gram negative bacteria associated with mastitis. It is effective against Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus dysgalactiae and other streptococcal species; penicillin resistant and penicillin sensitive Arcanobacterium pyogenic; Escherichia coli and other Gram-negative bacteria. Masticlox is bactericidal at the concentration produced and is non-irritant in the udder tissues. It can be safely administered to pregnant animals
Precautions
Penicillin’s and cephalosporin may cause hypersensitivity allergyfollowing injection, inhalation, ingestion or skin contact. Hypersensitivity to penicillin’s may lead to cross reactions to cephalosporin and vice versa. Allergic reactions to these substances may occasionally be serious.
- Do not handle this product if you know you are sensitized, or if you have been advised not to work with such preparations.
- Handle this product with great care to avoid exposure, taking all recommended precautions.
- If you develop symptoms following exposure such as a skin rash, you should seek medical advice and show the doctor this warning. Swelling of the face, lips or eyes or difficulty with breathing are more serious symptoms and require urgent medical attention.
Dosage
The contents of one syringe should be infused into each infected quarter via the teat canal immediately after milking, at 12 hour intervals for three consecutive milking. Clean and disinfect the teat before each treatment. After infusion massage the contents up into the udder, and then dip the teat in the teat dip.

- Do not store above 25ºC.
- The syringe may only be used once.
